Bombs Away!

The last of my Plush You toys for this year. Despite my husband suggesting the name Dropy McSplat I think I am just going to call this guy a gremlin, the kind that wrecked airplanes, not the kind that you cannot get wet.

He has the same base as this blue guy I made last year. But this year’s model sports spiffy goggles and a parachute.

The parachute was a real challenge to make but a lot of fun. Boning in an i-cord casing makes a frame that holds up the chute that is attached to the swanky backpack.

Wow. I love his innocent expression “Who, me?”, the swanky bag and the two-color goggles. How about “Splat the gremlin?” Thanks for sharing your construction info about the boning, too. It looks flawless. :D

  4. Awwww, this is such a cute guy – and I cannot stop looking at him :-)

first off, you did an AMAZING job on this guy!!

    i ADORE him!!!

i do have a question though, how did you do the stitching with the fabric on the feet? its so clean and neat! was it just very careful sewing? or do you have a specific technique?

    thank you!

This guy is really great :-) Can I ask you, where did you learn to turn your doodles into patterns? I’d love to be able to that too!

    Thanks :-)

I break down my doddle into several basic shapes I already know how to make such as balls and tubes. Because I normally write and draw on graph paper it is easy to see how big to make each shape in relation to each other. After that it is just trial and error. I rip back almost as much as I crochet the first time I make something

@Carey Thanks for the tip, I’m definitely going to try it. In fact, when I mentioned this to my husband and showed him your blog posts, he immediately started doodling himself. Who knows what I’ll be creating somewhere in the near future ;-)
