I used to crochet during my lunch breaks, but the stupid jokes started getting on my nerves enough for me to stop. People just can't seem to wrap their head around the fact that some young people actually crochet/knit.

A friend in the office likes to crochet and one day while working on her project, another coworker said, "Hey, now you can knit yourself a TV!" Since that comment, I've stopped crocheting at work because I don't think I could listen to another comment like that without hitting someone. :P

Haha, I laughed when I read this post as my workmates think I am mad for embroidering on my lunchbreak. They are becoming more tolerant tho, I must say. Sometimes, as ArtMind says, you just need every single spare second you can grab. Up to Christmas, I've been crafting every second at lunchtime, breaks, before work - I've even been tempted to take my sewing to meetings!

Oh a totally off note, I'm in love with the blue yarn in the picture. (I hope you don't mind me asking this...)What color and company is it from? =] I love your work!

Thanks for the responses guys. I am glad to here I am not the only one crafting at work. Maybe I will get the nerve up to knit in the break room soon.

ArtMind- I have no idea how you worked on clay at your lunch break. And it turned out so well too! It does remind me of when I was in freshmen year of art school and took one of my 3d design projects back to my dorm room. I spent hours carving plaster in my bathroom. My roommate did not understand at all…

Once I needed to have a ceramic project finished where I needed tons of little clay balls to put on a baboeschka.
I took my clay to work too because I just needed all the spare time I had - they looked a bit strange but it definitely was a good way to show there's life outside work too! :)
If you want to see the baboeschka, it's part of a larger work, but it's in the picture:

If I stay at work (instead of going home) on my lunch break I def. take a crochet project. The people at my work are just amazed by the projects I've been working on for Christmas. It does get old though, when, for the 5th time that week the same person asks "Still working on those gifts huh?" Yeah. I'm still working on the gifts. Got a lot to do. And after Christmas? I'll probably still be crocheting. Because that's what I like to do.

I knit on my lunch breaks. A co-worker has remarked that she was surprised that I wasn't embarassed. I didn't think I should be! Apparently, I do many embarassing things in public. Like photograph, read, knit. I should be ashamed!!:)
I adore my co-workers, and they put up with me, but they just don't get it.
